As avid Americano brewers at home, we embarked on a journey to find the perfectly brewed Americano. For each location, we ordered a medium, hot Americano. The prices listed were those paid in December 2023.

Beans N Brew, Ely’s newest coffee spot, stands out with its brand-new location that also offers a drive-thru. Open seven days a week, this chain invested heavily in the community. Our Americano experience here was memorable, featuring a rich, bold flavor we thoroughly enjoyed. The price for this delightful cup was $4.36 the highest in town.

Nestled in downtown Ely, Taproot, a locally owned gem, provides a warm and inviting atmosphere. Ideal for socializing with friends, this coffee house offers a unique experience. Our Americano from Taproot was equally satisfying, and the cost was a reasonable $3.76. They do not offer a drive-thru.

Following closely is Flower Basket, another locally owned establishment that provides both an inside and drive-thru option. While the Americano here didn’t quite match the richness of others, it was piping hot and offered a unique experience. Flower Basket is not just a coffee haven; it’s also a great place to explore for greeting cards and knick-knacks and even order flowers. Our Americano here was $4.00. Want a special treat? Try their Espresso Milkshake. It’s a local favorite.

Lastly, Economy Drug, situated in the heart of downtown Ely, offers the most budget-friendly option at $2.50 for an Americano. However, we found the flavor to be too light for our taste. Despite this, Economy Drug compensates with fantastic sandwiches, an old-fashioned soda fountain, and a hidden treasure of toys downstairs.
